An ESA letter is written by a licensed health care professional stating that a person has a disability-related need for an animal’s presence, typically for housing under the Fair Housing Act and, in Florida, related state housing rules such as Fla. Stat. § 760.27.

No. Every request goes through a clinical evaluation. A letter is issued only if the clinician determines it is appropriate. Approval is never guaranteed.

New evaluation: $149 for the first animal. Each additional animal is $79. Optional priority review is $49. Renewals for returning customers: $99 for the first animal, then $79 each additional. See Pricing for examples.

Letters issued through Official ESA Letter are valid for one (1) year from the purchase date. Renew before that date if you still need current documentation.

Renewal is a new clinical evaluation, not an automatic extension. Use the renewal path on the site (from $99 for the first animal). Mention that you are renewing in the background step so the clinician has context.

After you complete intake and payment, a clinician reviews your case. Most approved letters are delivered as a PDF within about 24–48 hours after the clinical evaluation is completed. Timing depends on clinician availability, priority selection, and case complexity.

Send the letter as issued with a written accommodation request. Use our landlord support tool for a cover letter draft. Within 30 days of delivery we help with one standard verification or reasonable-accommodation form. If rejection is due to a defect in our letter, we correct it or refund under the Refund Policy. We cannot force a landlord to approve an accommodation.

Under the Fair Housing Act and Florida housing rules, housing providers generally may not charge pet deposits or pet rent for a legitimate assistance animal. They may still hold you responsible for damage the animal causes. Specific situations can vary; this is not legal advice.

No. There is no official federal or Florida ESA registry. Those products have no legal standing for housing. What matters is a proper letter from a licensed clinician.

Most major U.S. airlines no longer accept ESA letters for cabin travel. Official ESA Letter documentation is for housing — we do not market airline ESA products.
