Our letter standard

No document can force a landlord to say yes. We can remove the common reasons letters get tossed as “internet mills”: missing license data, no verification path, vague animal description, and no statement of disability-related need.

Honest limit: Housing providers still decide accommodations. Direct threat or incomplete tenant requests can still lead to denial. Official ESA Letter’s job is clinical quality and verifiable documentation — not a guarantee of housing outcomes.

Required elements on every approved letter

✓Patient full legal name
✓Statement of professional relationship (evaluation / disability-related services)
✓Confirmation of disability-related impairment that substantially limits a major life activity (without unnecessary diagnosis detail)
✓Statement that the animal(s) provide therapeutic emotional support that alleviates a symptom or effect of the disability — not merely a pet
✓Animal type (and name/breed when known) for each animal
✓Clinician name, credentials, license state and number
✓Signature and issue date
✓Verification contact information
✓Validity period (1 year from purchase/issue)

Letters are structured so a housing provider can see: who the patient is, that a licensed professional has a relationship involving health care or disability-related services, that there is a disability-related need, which animal(s) are involved, and how to verify the clinician — without dumping unnecessary diagnostic detail into the landlord’s file.

What we deliberately avoid

• Fake “national registries,” QR certificates, or vest claims
• Guaranteed approval language
• Airline cabin ESA promises
• Letters with no license number or dead contact info
